One of the hardest rocking bands of all time meets one of the most refreshing cocktails this side of hells bells. This whiskey cocktail, our AC/DC Back in Blackberry Fizz,  is the perfect pairing for an album that is pure fire from the first riff to last. All you need for this recipe is:

AC/DC BACK IN BLACKBERRY FIZZ

1 1/2 oz Starward Whiskey

2 tbs Simple Syrup

1 tbs Blackberry Juice

6 tbs Club Soda

Mint Sprig

Add ice to your cocktail glass. In cocktail shaker with ice: add whiskey, simple syrup and blackberry juice and shake it all night long. Pour into glass while straining out ice from shaker. Top off with soda, garnish with blackberry and mint, and have a drink on me!

What are you willing to do for a nice glass of whisky? Probably a lot, but what if we told you that there was a place where you could have not just one, but over 370 glasses of whisky, all by different brands? You’d lose you mind or find levels of thirst within you that you didn’t know existed. But such a place couldn’t exist, right? Think it’s too good to be true?

Well, a place like that does exist. It is good, really good, and it is true.

Have you ever been to WhiskyFest?

WhiskyFest

WhiskyFest Chicago

For those of you who don’t know, allow us to expand your horizons. WhiskyFest is North America’s top whisky festival where experts and lovers of the drink come to enjoy over 370 types of whiskies from distilleries as far as Taiwan and India. Whether you’re new to the joys of whisky or you’re a savvy long-time lover of the drink, WhiskyFest brings together the world of whisky all in one place. It takes places four times in year, in Chicago, Washington D.C., San Francisco, and New York.

WhiskyFest

You can talk with representatives from distilleries, master blenders, and other experts at pouring booths. Not only that, you can hear and watch how your favorite whiskies are made. All guests get to participate in a grand tasting of whiskies, attend seminars, received a commemorative Glencairn crystal nosing glass, and other gifts.

WhiskyFest

WhiskyFest DC

At the D.C. fest on April 10th , guests got a taste of Sierra Norte Single Barrel Whiskey, which was at the event for the first time. It is distilled in Oaxaca, a state in Southern Mexico, using criollo corn.  In a tradition that was passed down through generations, family farmers in small villages grow criollo corn and this is a prominent ingredient in the whisky. Also available at the fest were BenRiach, Eagle Rare, Paul John, Jack Daniel’s Sinatra Select, Kavalan, Yamazaki, and Elijah Craig.

The Chicago and Washington D.C. portions of the tour took place earlier this month, but if you’re in the Bay Area in October or in the New York area in December, you’ll still have a chance to experience WhiskyFest for yourself.

Everyone loves a good story, and if you’re a fan of the popular HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones, you know how compelling a good story can be. As the show enters its 8th and final season tonight, you could be enjoying the action and the drama with…whisky? We know, it seems like a strange connection, but Diageo collaborated with HBO to make eight single malts. Why 8? Fans of the show will know that the great families of the fictional country of Westeros war each other to see who sits on the Iron Throne, and who gets to control the Seven Kingdoms and the Riverlands. Eight houses and eight seasons.
